Another day in the neighborhood.
Another new experience. Please share in it!

Art is timeless. To speak to an audience in volumes is a wonderful thing. To know as an artist you’ll receive unspoken gratitude as your work is observed and appreciated — That you are the reason we are here, to interpret, and be interpreted.

It was a Friday, June 26, 2010, when I went with my cousin and other good company to an art show in Los Angeles (Little Tokyo). Swarms of people were gathered at Hold Up Art gallery on 2nd st. You figured that maybe there was a long line, or maybe it was just really hot inside (Yeah, the second one sounds better).

A reminder of the Hip Hop culture, the urban soul — the other side of me I wished I continued to follow and learn more about — was expressed on different mediums. Amazing.

There was no form of conservatism whatsoever, which made the vibe of appreciating the arts more comfortable. I mean, the Getty Museum is wonderful, but you have to keep all noise to a minimal. Shhh. The show was simple, yet powerful and it’s opened the door that was just ajar to new heights of appreciating all forms of expression.

It reassured me that the imagination is beautiful and what can flow through the hands brilliantly… is brilliant. To be able to know who you are at that moment in time — to be able to say that This piece is worth more than the price tag for it (which, btw, were being sold practically no less than $240-$1,000+. Gulp).

Hats off, to Ms. Christine Villa and to her boy who goes by Eye One. Wonderful work, you two! Love the pinatas!

For those who are interested in checking out the gallery. It’s up for 3 more weeks:
